The Embassy of Uruguay in India was established on a permanent basis since India has no resident Embassy in Montevideo and the one in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is concurrently accredited to Uruguay.
Diplomatic relations between India and Uruguay were established in 1948.
Uruguay has an Honorary Consulate in Mumbai and will open soon others in Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bangalore
